by Chris Faylor, Apr 29, 2009 6:00am PDTAfter more than a year and a half of occasional play, I'm proud to say that I've finally beaten the third Phoenix Wright game, Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations, on DS.
Now I can move on to the fourth entry, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, which I've been looking to for quite a long time. It's been sitting in my closet for over a year, all shrinkwrapped and lonely, and will now, at long last, receive the attention it deserves.
Will I finish Apollo before the fifth game hits this winter? Only time will tell, I suppose, but there's a lot of other games between now and then that could distract me...

In Mythic’s efforts to improve server stability and performance in Open Realm vs. Realm combat, they are currently running a live test of a new system called "Winds of Change" on one of the US servers.
The goal of this system is to ensure the best Open Realm vs. Realm experience for as many people as possible and to prevent server crashes. Months of waiting for a lag fix and what we get is... that? In a MMO? "Extreme server load situations" basically equals "every night, prime time", btw.
These guys still have a few hundred k people paying them money monthly to play the game. Everything they've done in the last few months is like straight out of a plan I could come up with, with the goal of getting rid of any and all subscribers the game has, without actually shutting it down.
GOA (the European hoster) has actually stated that server performance is not the issue, it's the server software. And this is their fix? Teleport me (or my tank, healer, whatever) out of the battle at random times?
Just unreal. I've never felt like such an idiot as I do now for paying for something.

I'm still trying to track down a weird network issue. One of my clients has a credit card payment site with RBS. Randomly they will get "Page can not be displayed." Refresh and they are golden. Cox is certain our connection is good. I'm fairly certian the network is good. We have tried a different port on the switch and we have tried different computers. We aren't sure if it is JUST RBS because this is the only site they hit with any frequency durring the day. Amazingly enough, some people don't spend all day on the internet. I too was amazed by this.
Anyways, it is a bitch as it will work, work, work, not work, work work work work. My next guess is to just put wireshark on there, log everything, and then somehow figure out what isn't working based on that log.

Hello, gents. I haven't needed to log in for so long, I guess my old account got deleted. So I made a new one . Let me take the time to thank you for your advice- it truly is appreciated. I'm at my legs end with Googling questions, I just can't seem to find some specific answers.
As well as with this post, I offer a challenge to all whom will take the time to lend help to a friend in need: if you can offer money-saving advice or show me that my choice of components is in error ("I have a Phenom II X3 and It sucks") I will take all the extra money I save and buy / ship beer to you.

This will be a very detailed post, and I applaud you if you take the time to read and answer.
It's been six years since I last built my computer, and I've been doing heavy research for the past week since I recently got out of college for the semester. There are a few things I cannot seem to find the answer too, though... in relation to all of our favorite pastime: gaming.
My PC has served me well, but since my 9800 pro is on its last legs... its time to upgrade. I really want to play Bioshock above 10 FPS as well! I will be making my PC in LATE MAY. I have around a $1000 budget I'd like to spend, and I live in Pennsylvania. If the Overclocking is easy, I'll do it. But I WILL NOT sacrifice stability for speed.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 which still runs just fine. Is this old clunker going to add or subtract power from my new build? This is one of those questions which I simply cannot find an answer.
FLOPPY DRIVE: Big Piece floppy Toshiba S***
a Floppy is required to run my two hard drives. I've heard in Motherboard reviews about installing SATA drivers with Flash drives or other things, but my drives don't allow this. Is the Floppy worth keeping?

I've heard that quad-core CPU's are not prime for gaming- that rarely over 2 cores are ever used. I've seen people in the comments section of websites say this over and over. I figured I'd compromise and get three cores- one more for the future if ever I need it. Smart or dumb choice?

I saw in other "help me build my PC" threads where people were reccommending going against expensive memory in favor of the ultra cheap flavor. I'm looking for stability, and I travel to LAN parties a lot where its frequently 90+ degrees; it's also usually over 90 degrees where I live... I figured this would help that stability.
As well, what's the performance increase in having 8 gigs versus 4? could any of you lend advice as to how useful this will be in the future? let me tell you, my 1 gig, which was badass at the time, feels like a fossil. If I had upgraded to 2 gigs at the time... it might not be so bad. Does my logic make sense, or am I wasting money?

I've spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of time as to find out whether Windows XP pro x64 is superior to Vista for GAMING- I do not care about worthless features or noob-friendly networking. I simply care about which is superior for gaming. I have consistently read that Windows Basic uses less RAM, but I've read from other places that Vista Premium "scales" ram use back when in applications. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

I used a Silverstone 400W for about 1 year before the damn thing died on me. I switched over to an Antec... and it's been working for the last five years. I really can't argue with experience, but I'm also sort-of convinced that my Silverstone was just a fluke. I know its a good company.

I'd love some general thoughts, advice, where you went, etc. Did you enjoy it? Any suggestions on what to do? I'll be there for most of the Summer, so I have lots of time to explore, but it's always good to get some ideas before hand. I'm almost 100% set on living in Observatory, which is what multiple people have suggested to me.

I think my problem with MMO's is that I'm not as interested in the MMO as much I am the RPG. Maybe I'll go back and try to finish NWN2 or the TQ expansion stuff.
Any comments on this laptop? What kind I performance could I expect? What I'm really wondering is can I play WoW while I poo?

What is it? It's a mmo web game in the vein of goal line blitz but with baseball instead of football. We have some neat ideas (at least we think) such as achievements and social network integration.
As the game stands right now there are some features that are still in development, but the game is totally playable at this stage.
I am 45 minutes away from heading off to Sweden for a two week vacation, but my colleague will be around to answer any questions on the site.

Isn't it entirely possible that swine flu has been around for weeks, months, or even years, before this alert was raised?
They've discovered a case of someone in Spain who hasn't visited Mexico or US. WHO and others seem to be taking this to mean that this shit is spreading like wildfire, whereas it simply makes me thing it's already been discretely airborne and passing for some time without our knowledge.
It's so hard to sort the media hype from reality at this stage with newspapers touting hundreds upon hundreds and WHO quoting a far less number confirmed.
