Exalt Reveals Kart Shooter Hybrid 'Silas'

3
Independent developer Exalt Studios today announced its first game, Silas, a PC racing game that looks to combine the antics of Mario Kart with shooter-style weapons.

Under development for five years by sole Exalt member William Sworin, Silas is meant to "revolutionize the kart genre which hasn't changed much within the last decade."

Each of the game's 18 weapons has two firing modes, with the various single and multiplayer game types including Deathmatch, CTF, Survival, Battle, Capture the Pipes, and Grand Prix. Online matches will support up to 12 players.

Silas is due in August, with Sworin promising that the game will support "a wide range of systems. No word yet on how the game will be distributed or how much it will cost.

I wasn't even aware of Zero Gear until now. It looks so much more stylized/professional than this. This looks like Smashing cars. Hopefully this game is good, unlike Smashing cars. The karts/characters in this are very unappealing and the weapons end up making the karts look clunky. I hope it turns out to be a fun game, but right now it doesn't look very good.

Zero Gear dev here - there is actually another PC kart game that just came out, called smashing toys - http://store.steampowered.com/app/26700/

So we have 2 PC games to compete with now! Best of luck to fellow indie studio Exalt with theirs.

Having played smashing toys and checked out the video for Silas - I am not too concerned about Zero Gear standing apart from both. Zero Gear is much more physical and not as much focused on racing as having lots lot different game modes.
