Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Hitting XBLA, PSN in Summer; Demo Coming to PS3 This Week

Publisher Capcom today confirmed the rumored downloadable remake of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, announcing that it will hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this summer.

Brought to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store by Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix veteran Backbone, the re-release is based off the Dreamcast version of Capcom's fighter. Online multiplayer and two HD upscaling options have been added, along with support for custom soundtracks and an optional widescreen view.

Perhaps best of all, a downloadable demo of the title will hit PlayStation 3 this Thursday, April 30, with Kotaku reporting that the summer-due full version will sell for $15.

"This version of MvC2 will be the definitive version," Capcom vice president of strategic planning Christian Svensson wrote in a blog post. "The original textures and assets from the Dreamcast were actually much higher quality than the Dreamcast could really display at the time and when shown in HD, the impact is really quite amazing."
