Codemasters Announces Formula One Racers

Following the announcement that it had secured the Formula One racing license, Codemasters today revealed its plans for multi-year racing domination, formally announcing both F1 2009 and F1 2010.

F1 2009 will debut only on the Wii and PSP this fall, while F1 2010 will be the proper effort, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in mid-2010.

The company released a few Wii screenshots of F1 2009, which you can view above. A teaser trailer for Formula One games was also dispatched, though it includes no gameplay footage.

I worry that Codemasters will hijack this license for the children and turn what is supposed to be the pinnacle of motor sport into un-challenging lightweight drivel just like Grid and Dirt. They have already said they're basing it on the same engine. They stopped developing 'proper' racing games years ago.

I hope I'm wrong, and that they give us a serious racing sim - WE CAN HANDLE IT.

i hope this isnt indicative of them turning f1 into an arcade game.
