Zeno Clash DLC, Demo and SDK in the Works

By Alice O'Connor, Apr 24, 2009 9:11am PDT Zeno Clash designer Andres Bordeu has told Shacknews about ACE Team's plans for the first-person puncher post-release, including an SDK and downloadable content.

"We're planning on releasing DLC and releasing a compatible SDK so users can edit levels and other assets" said Bordeu, confirming details in a foreign-language interview with LagZero. No release date is scheduled yet but "it shouldn't take us very long."

ACE Team is currently working on a Zeno Clash demo, as well as a patch due "soon" to address "some game play mechanics, other tweaks, and general bug fixing."

"We're gathering all the community feedback we're getting," said Bordeu on the post-release response to the game. "We want to listen to what the players are saying."

On the DLC front, Bordeu says new Tower challenges are "definitely something we want to do" and that any added "will be free." He teases "We are also discussing the possibilty [sic] of doing other things," but ACE is "not ready to share them yet."

  • This is an amazing game, and well worth the $20, especially with the free DLC and community mods and levels once the SDK is released soon. The combat is very well done, better than Riddick and it looks better than Breakdown, with lock ons, combos, dodges and counterattacks, it works really well and the first person perspective makes the combat feel kinetic as well. The art style is out of this world, its so unique and the worlds look so good as well. Its amazing that this is something out of the Source engine, the character designs are the best part, while the environments are so varied you will never see repitition. The story piques your interest due to a lack of knowledge at the start, but it unweaves as you go but retains that intrigue throughout. The end boss and level were a bit of a letdown compared to the build up. The voice acting is well done for not having outside actors, and the music fits the art direction perfectly. If you're on the fence wait for the free demo, otherwise pick it up. It worked perfectly on my Athlon 3200, 1GB Ram, and Geforce 6800GT 256MB, with all settings maxed but no AA, and 4xAF. It took me 7 hours to beat, however that was the SP campaign, along with the challenge mode which I have not completed yet. Its well worth the cash, and after beating challenge mode it will bring me easily to 8 or 9 hours, with a replay of the SP campaign on the highest difficulty on my mind.
