Shed a Tear for the Cancelled Devil May Cry PSP

The PSP version of Devil May Cry has reportedly been cancelled, IGN has noticed.

Japanese video game magazine and reliable source Famitsu has removed the PSP title from its upcoming release list with a special note that it has been cancelled.

Capcom announced the PSP installment of Devil May Cry series way back in 2005, intended for release some time before March 2006. No details were announced and as nothing has been heard since, its cancellation comes perhaps as no surprise.

You know things aren't looking too good for the PSP if a huge name like DMC is canceled. TBH I'm surprised Capcom hasn't developed a cut-down version of DMC for the DS, akin to Ninja Gaiden DS. It would make millions.

How is it a cancellation when they announced it almost four years ago, the projected release date was three years ago, and all we've heard since the announcement has been internet rumors?

Can you cancel vaporware?

I'm obviously just speculating, but I think a PSP cancellation like this at this time lends support to the idea that a PSP2 with dual analog sticks and a touchscreen is not that far away.
