by Chris Faylor, Apr 15, 2009 12:18pm PDTUpdate: Capcom has confirmed that the Bionic Commando multiplayer demo is an Xbox 360 exclusive, telling Shacknews that it has "no plans for a PC or PS3 demo." When asked why, a representative from Capcom told us they had "no comment."
Additionally, the rep noted that there are no plans for a single-player demo "at this time."
Original: A downloadable demo of GRIN's upcoming retail action game Bionic Commando will hit the Xbox 360 later this month, publisher Capcom announced today.
The demo will offer a glimpse of the game's online multiplayer, allowing players to sample the "Vertigo" map in an 8-player Deathmatch. No mention was made of a PlayStation 3 release for the demo, Shacknews has contacted Capcom for more details.
Due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come May 19 and PC "shortly after," the full version of Bionic Commando will have 16 multiplayer maps and Deathmatch (Solo and Team) and Capture the Flag game types in addition to the story-driven single-player campaign.

Every game should have a demo, and every game that is multi-platform should release on every platform on the same day and stop treating certain customers like they're second-class citizens. Lots of games to buy where the dev/publisher actually acts like they want my money.

Seeing as how a lot of the industry easily dismisses the effectiveness of demo's on luring in buyers, I can't blame any publishing entity for skipping the cost of putting a demo up on the PSN. As for a PC demo, I'll grant that services like Fileshack will host their demo for free, but a PC demo is a gamble and can be a huge hindrance to sales, as they often raise questions about performance and stability. Best not to gamble on a PC demo and shoot for those first day sales.
There will be plenty demos floating around on torrent when the game is released. It'll probably be infested with SecuROM as well.
The MP looks crazy :D
