Fight Night Round 4 Release Date Announced, Trailer Slams FNR3 as 'Very Scripted, Very Repetitive'
by Chris Faylor, Apr 13, 2009 10:55am PDTElectronic Arts reveals a June 30 ship date for EA Canada's Fight Night Round 4 (PS3, X360) in this new trailer, which hypes the sequel by punching Round 3 right in the face. Several new screenshots were also released, detailing more of the game's roster.
"[In Fight Night Round 3], you often found that the gameplay degraded into two guys standing in front of each other and trading blows," says producer Brian Hayes. "You saw a very scripted, very repetitive experience where people stood in front of each other."
But the physics of Round 4 alleviate that issue, he explains in the video below. "What we're really trying to deliver is the most realistic simulation of the sport of boxing ever in a video game....Fight Night Round 4, you see a much more fluid, natural game."

as a boxing fan this game looks like something out of Friday Night Fights on ESPN (namesake I know). The boxers look more "human" the moves look cleaner, the punches look crisper. They tweaked the heck out of the game itself and overall looks 10x better than FN3 which has been the holy grail for boxing games.
It's going to be about the controls now. I want to see what they did with them, I almost got f'n carpal tunnel with those stupid controls from FN3 as you were all over the place with it.
This is looking like a purchase for me though.
