If you have ever wished EVE Online had more pew pew, this trailer of Reakktor Media's upcoming space combat MMO Black Prophecy might be right up your space alley.

Black Prophecy sports fast-paced combat where players must actually aim their shots, modular ship building and item modification systems, epic space battles offering the opportunity to man a battleship's guns, and some rather fetching space stations.

Reakktor--developer of MMO FPS series Neocron--has yet to announce a release date.

Please be awesome. Please. There hasn't been a good space sim since Freespace 2.

This might just be me, but I really enjoy X3: Terran Conflict. I don't play the storyline, I just go into the sandbox and do whatever I want. Currently have a few banshee missles, over 50 swarm class missles and have managed to take down a small cruiser with my fighter through some special maneuvers. I also own about 6 or so ships, 4 sattelites watching different star systems, and an ore mine. I'm saving up for a better fighter or possibly a small frigate so I can have some larger space battles.

Freespace 2 definitely holds a special place in my heart though.

To everyone experiencing Freespace 2 nostalgia try installing the Freespace Open project. It is a open source project that vastly enhances the graphics and capabilities of the engine and makes Freespace 2 easily 100x more awesome. There also are several new mods and campaigns that take advantage of this project and the original Freespace 1 campaigns (including the Silent Threat campaign) have been ported to the new engine.

Instructions for getting started are here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/FreeSpace_Open_Installer

      Enjoy!

I haven't been this excited for a game since I stayed up to watch the cam quality trailers of SC2 from Blizzcon. This game is a guaranteed purchase for me. I still play through FS2 once every few months and at the end I'm always hit with sadness that the genre hasn't had another game like it since.

      I share your prayers brother.

      PLEASE BE GOOD. PLEASE.
