Reminder: Flock! and Puzzle Quest: Galactrix on XBLA

6
Arriving this Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade are two puzzlers of very different breeds, Proper Games' Flock! and Infinite Interactive's Puzzle Quest: Galactrix.

Flock! is the simple tale of a UFO herding sheep past obstacles into its mothership, whereas Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is an addictive gem-matching RPG mashup.

Round Flock! up for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) and Puzzle Quest for 1600 ($20).

Flock! also arrives on the PC on Tuesday and PlayStation Network on Thursday. Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is due a PlayStation Network release some time later this spring.

This new trend of $15 and $20 as an average price for Live Arcade is ridiculous, what happened to the $5 or $10 games that were dropping at first and now it's the average, reasonable entry level fee to dish out $20 for a game that usually is only played for an hour at most and then rots on the hard drive and marketplace servers. Granted, this week does look different with Flock and Galactrix looking to be solid releases with very large replayability factors, especially for the multiple galaxy-spanning Galactrix, which I'm assuming like its PC forebear is addictive as all hell.

Okay, I guess I picked the wrong week the bitch about Arcade prices but any other week this argument would be valid because half the games getting released suck.

Although,I WAS excited to see Hasbro Family Game Night free! With 1600 gamerpoints to achieve no less? Then it was all a sham upon entering the fancy interface with each half a century or more old game being priced at $10 or more a pop? WTF?! So much for that... Release it for $10 (800ms points) for all of them and I'll definitely get it.

While I agree that some of the games are overpriced, the fact that the 1600 point game is still very much the minority makes XBLA a cheaper place to play casual and niche games than the PC, where $19.95 is the norm from the likes of Popcap and Playfirst (although the trend there is toward all you can eat subscription services)

I don't know where you're looking, but on Steam, Flock! is $13.49 and $19.99.

i'd consider flock if it were 800 points but now i dont really care about the demo. 1200 points in canada doesnt work out to 15 dollars. also i have PQ:G for PC and felt like i got ripped off at 20 bucks
