Dragon Age Media: The Redcliffe Alamo

by Nick Breckon, Apr 03, 2009 2:54pm PDT

It's Friday. A time to rejoice for the weekend, and a time to catch up on trailers and screenshots. Here's a recent blast from Dragon Age Origins developer BioWare, showing off the defense of Redcliffe.

Dragon Age: Origins is coming this fall on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

  • I think this game is kind riding on a wave of negative vibes because of how shitty the initial media for it was. But putting that aside, I think this video is pretty cool. The fire tornado type spell especially and some of the sword swing animations are pretty cool. There's some seriously flat moments like when the soldier is frantically asking for help but his face is totally calm.

I think this is the type of game that videos of combat really aren't going to get across how it actually feels like to play it when the characters in your party are of your own choice, your guy is customized how you want him, etc. I think most RPG's are this way, even the great ones. Vids don't do them justice.

So yeah, they came tripping out of the gate with the marketing on this one, but I think it could turn out to be worthwhile.

  • What I would give for playing a game like this only with the dark messiah combat mechanics! Because that would be awersome instead of this dull wow like combat.

(little beats chopping of their heads in glorious slow mo with a blow that you landed on the enemy with your own skill instead of some in game controlled skill)

Wonder what reaction would be if you at the moment the woman said lets bow our heads for the fallen, said:

-They dropped good loot at least.

-Whose up for some grave robbing?

-Enough of that… LETS paryyyyy. “waves hands in the air”
