Grassy New Operation Flashpoint 2 Screenshots
Slated to hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game is being made without the involvement of Operation Flashpoint 1 developer Bohemia Interactive, which has caused Bohemia to question Codemasters' claims that Dragon Rising is an "official sequel."

I simply cannot get behind this game. After playing ArmA, I simply cannot believe that Operation Flashpoint 2 will have superior gameplay to ArmA II. Graphics maybe, but not gameplay. Codemasters just doesn't have it in them.

I agree here. I look at OpFlash2 as being a more fun and accessible game. ArmA seemed to take realism to non-fun levels. The war version of sitting around waiting for a dear in dearhunter. I think this will be a great mix of realistic action and playability. ArmA wants to please die hard realism fans so hard it misses the mark in many areas. I think in ArmA to enjoy it you have to mentally make the game be much more than it is. Almost play pretend. If you aren't personally roleplaying, you are going to be miserable with the game. I think this game will strike the perfect balance.

I remember a non nerdy buddy of mine who was sunk in Morrowind. He was totally consumed. Turned out he personally roleplayed it. Only did things his character would do. Even found a place for him to retire.
Also for a farther out example, wii sports. People jumping around pretending they're swinging a tennis racket when you just need to flick your wrist around a little.
I can understand the appeal, it just doesn't do much for me personally.

ArmA's ultra realism is why OF2 will never be the amazing game that ArmA II will be. The fun in ArmA is having the game reward your blatant stupidity with a cold hard kick in the face. You have to think to survive, not just have the fastest reflexes. ArmA is one of the most amazung games I've ever played. Workibg through the campaign on Veteran has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had in gaming.

I'm just pointing out the game isn't realistic. People don't truly want a realistic game. So saying it's realistic cuz i act like an army man can apply to any game. ArmA had a shitload of flaws and i wish fans could recognize it. It's the underdog fuck you mentality that confuses me. These fans are like dahleks. "ArmA IS SUPERIOR!" yet it can't climb fucking stairs.

ArmA gameplay was clunky, the game ran too slow for the visual quality. I loved Operation Flashpoint, I was so excited for ArmA that I imported it as soon as I was able since no US release date was announced. But the feel just wasn't there. It was realistic, some of the new features were cool, but something felt kind of off. I hope ArmA II fixes these issues, but I am willing to take a slightly less realistic game if the gameplay is more solid.
