Shack PSA: Alien Hominid 50% Off on Xbox Live

For this week's Xbox Live Deal of the Week, store operator Microsoft has discounted The Behemoth's Alien Hominid HD to 400 Microsoft Points ($5)--50% off its usual price.

After the frantic side-scrolling shoot and slice 'em up hit Xbox Live in 2007, The Behemoth went on to produce the 2008 side-scrolling beat 'em up, Castle Crashers.

As with other recent Xbox Live deals, the discount is only available to Gold members.

This game is so completely worth $5. The main Alien Hominid game may be damn hard and initially I felt the same as some of the other people in here thinking it was just a decent Metal Slug clone, but as you go through the game with a buddy and get to the higher levels/harder difficulties the subtleties of the level design really come through. The game is excellent and really allows you to use all the skills they provide you with, most of which I initially thought were wastes of time.

Cap that off with the amazing PDA games (and all the level packs they've released) and it's a great package.

We couldn't even get past the first level at my friend's house...

I like their games but I consistently lose my character in the mess of colors on-screen. I had the same issue with Castle Crashers, although I at least beat that one.

God, I hated this game so much. Painfully bad level design and gameplay wrapped around some really nice graphics. I wouldn't even waste $5 on it (especially after taking it in the ass on buying the Gamecube version back when it came out).
