i'd go with a spitfire if it overclocks well... the 700 should reach 930 mhz at 133 bus speed. at 700 it already beats an athlon 700 at q3, about 10% faster. plus u can't beat its price, like 175$ for that thing...hehehe.
anyone who knows an article on overclocking the spitfire?

I've got a P3-500 .. I won't upgrade for a long time. There's nothing you can't run fine right now with a 450-500.

I am waiting for DDR boards, 1ghz chips (well.. overclocked to 1g) and 64mb "common" 3d cards, but at a nice price.

Something like this Spitfire on a DDR board @ 1.1g's with an NV15 64mb or so with 256mb of DDR? could be far nicer than my 300A@450 with a TNT1, plus I didnt blow all my cash on TNT2's, Geforces, V3's or anything else that is quicker :)

What about the people like me that have a PII-233 with a Banshee and 64MB of RAM? heh... I can't wait another year.

This year is gonna be a shaky year as far as computing technology goes. Right now we are in the trasistion between newer memory technologies and the chipsets that support them. Buying anything now might not be all that great of a choice since it is highly likely that you'll see something 20-50% faster in the comming months ahead.

Just look at the people whom bought the first generation Athlon boards (like me). They didn't have super-bypass. The same thing is happening to the people whom got those boards when the KX-133s came out. And it'll happen again when motherboards based on AMD's 760 chipset come out... The same thing is going to happen to Intel later this fall when they release their Willamette.

Hopefully things will settle down by next Spring and we should have a fairly good idea of what is destined to be long-lasting and what is not.

T-Bird is gonna take the CuMine to town. You should expect the performance difference between the Athlon & the P!!! to be as big as it was in August if not bigger.

Intel won't have any hope of regaining the performance crown until Willamette. And that performance gap will further widen when AMD releases the 760 chipset with DDR memory in the fall...

F-4 phantom, I've gassed them up before (USAF, Fuels guy) they pee all over the ramp if you put to much pressure to them. Good plane though to have survived as long as it did (25 years?). Most of the pilots would rather fly the F-15E's or F-16's.

A good friend of mine was a topgun pilot. Tore the newbies up. Fun to listen to him tell stories about it. Dude flew the F-4 Phantom in Vietnam, but got out of the Navy before he could fly a F-14
