Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Trailer: Fancy Female Ninjas

Not only does our first proper look at Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 introduce us to resident protagonist Ryu, but we also get a glimpse of Ayane and Momiji. Sure, both have appeared in previous Ninja Gaiden games, but in Sigma 2? They're playable.

The enhanced PlayStation 3 port of last year's Xbox 360 action game also packs a new online mode that allows players to partake in specializes challenges. Expect to see Sigma 2 this fall, courtesy publisher Tecmo and its internal Team Ninja studio.

I don't think retreads of old 360 games really need to be commented on anymore, but, here ya go.

Not that old, came out not even a year ago on the 360 and seems to be better in a few ways. Good times for PS3 owners and I'll probably pick it up on that instead of going for the 360 version.

The violence will be higher in the 360 version, so you may want to play both. I just watched an interview where the sigma producer stated that violence won't be a selling point this time, all the OT's from the original are shrouded in purple haze, and the buckets of blood are gone.

You can say that violence does not make the game, but it was a serious reason why NG2 kicked ass the first time around. It really made the atmosphere, and contributed to the feel of playing an awesome ninja bloodbath movie. It made up for the somewhat more linear levels, and the occasional slowdown (which was not often, but it was noticeable.)

So many levels were just piles of bodies in the original that Sigma 2 sounds like it will be a very different game.

Watching the trailer, I will have to pick this up. It looks like there's enough content to justify it to a big NG fan like me. Personally, it'll be great to have both. the X360 original version as Itagaki envisioned for his Tecmo swan song and this new one with all that new content. Both will be great to have in my collection.

Yeah, i hear that. NG2 has become one of my favorite 360 games, so if and when I get around to getting a ps3, I will be willing to check out Sigma 2, as I too am a huge NG fan. I already get the feeling that it is going to be a different experience, I hope it doesn't feel too nerfed. The feel of NG2 is awesome. You feel like you are wielding deadly weapons, and the damage done to an enemy feels right for the type of weapons you are using. I am not a gore fiend, but in NG2, it really was a huge element of what made the game great for me.

Agreed. It was part of what made the atmosphere for the game. It's was fast paced, brutal combat between merciless enemies. Even the tonfa were awesome, the sounds of hits connecting with flesh and bone just reallly added to feeling of the game. In many ways, I thought the combat was superior to the original NG/Black/Sigma because it went around better and seemed more fluid with how Ryu flew around the screen and massacred all those spider ninjas.

Personally, if they offered all the new content as DLC on XBL for X360, I would buy it. Too bad. It's more of a missed opportunity for them.
