BioShock 2 Getting Simultaneous Release

25
Easing the minds of PC and PS3 gamers, 2K has confirmed plans to launch BioShock 2 simultaneously on all of its platforms.

The sequel to 2K Boston's underwater shooter is set for a PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 launch this fall, according to CVG.

The original BioShock was released on PC and Xbox 360, with a PlayStation 3 port coming more than a year later.

Gamers have also been burned recently by a spate of minor delays to PC versions of multiplatform titles, as in the case of Prince of Persia, Dead Space, Tom Clancy's HAWX and others.

The first one didn't. No reason this one will.

Wut. I own the PC version and have played the X360 version elsewhere for a bit... The UI and etc may not be as streamlined as comparable PC-first RPG games, but that is a relative PC game vs. PC game kinda thing and not an indication that the situation is any better one the X360... It isn't. It's just that the UI is relatively good for an X360 RPG and not so much for a PC RPG. Otherwise, the PC graphics are better than the X360 graphics with generally higher framerates given decent hardware (including gpu's that sell for as low as $50 atm) and I preferred k/m control in-game. Personal feeling as well is that a game like Bioshock is better-played at a more intimate distance from the screen which is typical of a PC set-up compared to a console set-up.

All of the above is just personal preference really, but that is my point. By no means did the PC version "suck" in comparison to the X360 version- it just depends on what you're more familiar with, how much you've invested in your PC compared to your X360 (or flat-out which of the two you have), and which you'd rather play a game like BS with.

It sucked for me. Besides the console-ized UI, the mouse tracking was broken at lower sensitivities, there were all kinds of graphical hiccups, and, worst of all, there were the crashes. Ohhhh, the crashes. I got to somewhere around the 3rd or 4th level when it started crashing at one particular checkpoint no matter what I'd do. I tried waiting a few months for the PC patch, hoping it'd fix the issue, but, lo and behold, when the patch came out still no luck. I finally ended up uninstalling and never going back to it.

I understand that this was by no means the standard experience for those on PC, but it was enough to turn me off on playing any more 2K Games PC ports.

That's fine, but a little more detail in your original post would have been nice. Personally, I didn't have any such issues, but the explosion of my Xbox 360 back in '06 assures that I sympathize with you and recognize that just because I didn't have such issues does not mean that such issues don't exist.
