Minecraft for Xbox 360 dev working on 'Adventure' update
My wife has expressed an interest in pursuing photography as a hobby. I'm looking into costs for equipment for the beginner so I can gauge what it would cost to get her started, but I know nothing about cameras. They don't interest me in the slightest so I don't know what I should be looking for.
Found this link on eBay for (what appears to be) a starter package: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Canon-EOS-Digital-REBEL-XSi-450D-Camera-4-LENS-8GB-NEW_W0QQitemZ300298681469QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital_Cameras?hash=item300298681469&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308
Does it look worth it? Any suggestions tips/suggestions for getting her started? I don't think I want to drop $1k+ until I know it's a hobby she will seriously pursue, but the Wal-Mart camera I currently own has it's limits.

Brought to you by the godawful mess that the DownloadHelper plug-in for Firefox leaves you with if you just download tons of images over the course of a year with a convenient single click and never ever bother to sort any of them. Renaming and sorting this stuff is going to take forever.

Does anyone here use MediaTemple Virtual Dedicated Servers for hosting? I'm curious to know whether or not on a VDS the MYSQL server runs locally or still on a remote server server like their shared GridService plan??
I'll start by saying Trinity & Beyond, Fog Of War and Cosmos.

So far i'm listening to CBC's "Q" - a show about culture, arts with a bit of sociology mixed it.
http://www.cbc.ca/q/
It's fucking awesome. They had a story about the death of Polaroid film and an artist/entrepreneur who bought an old film factory and hired old employees to find a way to make it cheaper and sell it as a niche product and interviewed the dude.
Then they had a segment on culture/art as an evolutionary development used as a way to attract mates.
What kind of podcasts are popular with you kids?
Videogame podcasts are cool but I'm looking for a wide variety topics.

HOLY SHIT! The Ultima Team update that was added to XBL yesterday for download is awesome. It's totally like the Euro 2008 Card Trading edition but on FIFA scale proportions. So much fun - and as described totally brings back nostalgia of trading cards in my youth! :)
hahahaha

Any others you can recommend? I tend not to like his drearier songs. Gotta be swingin' and finger-snappin' and sassily spittin' rum-soaked terbaccky into a spittoon kinda music.

As a complete NYC noob, I come to you with open arms asking for advice... I will be:
- doing the usual tourist trap shit *
- requiring a non-dodgy area to stay in as a central hub
- somewhere that has a bit of night-time liveliness but not too much because
- I'm with my wife and 3 year old daughter
* The usual tourist trap shit at this stage = Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Museums/Arts, Coney Island, Empire State, Village, Little Italy, .... << add suggestions here >>
I'm looking at hotels and apartments, so advice please gentlemen.

So, basically, the Sex Pistols were like the 70s version of modern overmarketed "rebel" mallcore bands?

It was the weakest part of the browser before they removed half of the useful information. Now it's just a pile of dicks.
1) Gone is the circular progress meter behind the file icon. Now it's difficult to deduce what is still running at a glance. The only visual indicator that separates a running or cancelled download from a completed download is that the filename is now blue and underlined. There is no visual difference between a running download and a cancelled download other than the status text reading "Cancelled".
2) Gone is any indication of when a file was downloaded. It's just a list of files now.
2) Gone is the ability to select a download and do useful things like copy link location, which I found myself doing a lot because...
3) There is no warning when you close your browser with downloads running. This has always been a problem for me. I forget I have big files downloading and close the browser all the time.
I liked Firefox's method of a tiny optional window exclusively for Downloads. I'd even prefer IE's method of a separate dialog for each downloading file. The lack of anything like these is the only thing I don't like about Chrome.

Looking to hook my desk up with a KVM to eliminate some of the clutter. What I want from it is 4 connections, DVI, USB 2.0, and audio.
I am partial to this one:
