Far Cry 2 DLC Hits Steam, Adds Weapons and Maps

After debuting the ability to sell downloadable content earlier this week, Valve's online storefront Steam is now selling a $4.99 add-on pack for the PC release of Far Cry 2.

Only compatible with the Steam version of the Ubisoft Montreal game, the "Fortunes Pack" adds three new weapons--a silenced shotgun, sawed-off shotgun, and crossbow--two new vehicles and five new multiplayer maps to the open-world shooter.

The pack initially hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last winter for $10. While it carried the same weapon and vehicle add-ons, the consoles only got four multiplayer maps.

Dead game is dead. No one cares, and no PC user should pay $5 let alone anything for what amounts to a missing content patch.

Furthermore, the Steam storefront needs a DLC tab, I don't want this shit clogging up the new releases list where products that are actually WORTH money are kept.44

Man I was so pumped for this game until I played it. When it became evident that you have to fight through every checkpoint and all the enemies respawn the moment you turn your back, I never went back to it and that's such a bummer.

Wow, I feel sorry for anyone who payed $10 for the console version of this DLC. Even $5 (£3.99 in the UK) seems like a bit much on paper.

Also, I wish the idea of releasing microtransaction DLC maps would just die. You fracture the community and make the overall multiplayer experience worse for both the people who bought it and the people who didn't.

I've been wanting to use a silenced shotgun in a game ever since no country for old men came out. The real things are huge, and they don't make it completely silent. But I was reading someones forum thread about how he made his own. He used subsonic ammo from what I remember (might have been named something else). And it was almost completely silent. It's illegal here in the states I think.
