Morning Discussion
by Chris Faylor, Mar 18, 2009 4:30am PDTI do hope that everyone had a safe and responsible, but still fun, St. Patrick's Day.
Spring brings with it many awesome things--warm weather, perfect for flippy floppies and hammocks--but I always seem to forget about the allergens. Stupid allergies.
On a game-related note, I'm not sure about that Merchants of Brooklyn. Sure, it looks quite pretty, and yes it's fun, but I shouldn't hit a game-stopping bug in the first fight. We'll see how the rest of the game fares, assuming I have the time to play it this week.

For instance, When running a Windows based VM within the non VRDP front end resizing the windos actually dynamically resizes the Windows virtual desktop to match.
Also, VRDP is nice as it allows you console capability through a widely available client similar to how Xen lets you use VNC.

WASHINGTON — Spurred on by a tidal wave of public anger over bonuses paid to executives of the foundering American International Group, the House voted 328 to 93 on Thursday to get back most of the money by levying a 90 percent tax on it.

*gasp* I don't know if I have an opinion on this anymore. This is just so utterly hilarious though but I can't figure out if it's hilarious in a good or a bad way. It's just damned hilarious.
CAPTION PLS

I'm trying to overclock this new RIG I PULLED THE TRIGGER ON, but I've never done this before. I've usually been satisfied with stock speeds. Then I ran 3dmark Vantage and got smoked by a bunch of overclockers.

I'd like to get this thing to 4ghz. I read one of the easiest ways to OC this is to change the BCLK Frequency but I'm not sure thats the best way.
Heres the toggles I have from this Asus TurboV app - http://ashkie.shackspace.com/OC.jpg
Heres a look at the BIOs options - http://hothardware.com/Articles/Asus-P6T6-WS-Revolution-Core-i7-Motherboard/?page=3
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I was a fan of Vista, but Windows 7 is just...better overall. Now I have nothing to bitch about

The OCZ Vertex doesn't look too bad. You can get a 60gb drive for $200, or a 30gb for $110.

I also watch tons of good docs too (nature docs are my favorite!) but I can't resist the docs on totally fucked up subject matter. I had previously thought I would never top Fat Girls and Feeders in terms of losing sleep/needing to cleanse my brain with something but I finally found one that I couldn't even finish watching.
It's called Animal Passions and somehow I missed it when it came out 5 years ago. It's about zoophiles, or beastiality as it is commonly known. They follow around and interview people involved in different levels of this totally whack bullshit. One guy lives with a pony that he calls refers to as his wife. One woman lost her virginity to a dog.
Anyway I couldn't make it through the whole thing. Nothing was really visually graphic but my mind is paying the price anyway. To me it is just animal abuse and I couldn't see these people's perspective no matter how consistent and thorough they were in explaining it. So there you go, the documentary that finally defeated me. A guy who fucks a pony.

Only 47% of Americans know how long it takes for the Earth to go around the sun? I refuse to believe that.
But the fact that there are corroborating surveys? That is pretty horrific, but in line with prior surveys. WTF. Anyone over the age of 5 who can't answer that should be sterilized.

Whats a good NAS out there? Priorities include:
* 4 drive bays (ideally empty)
* upgradeable/expandable 1 drive at a time (like drobo)
* apple time machine support would be cool
* linked to a backup service of some kind (Mozy) would be really cool
* not a FreeNAS or linux or windows server - I want a dedicated box
obviously 1Gbit is needed, but I think thats pretty standard. all the other super duper bells and whistles arent really needed. any suggestions?

So what character(s) is(are) everyone settling in to?
In my quest to not be another Ken user, I've found myself splitting my time between the hilarious mind games you can play with Gouken, and the impressively spritely mix-ups dished out by Sakura.
Though last night I gave Rose some serious time and... damn! She's got strong potential to become a new primary character for me!
How about you folks?

That'll be really nice because figuring out if an app has a Lite version and then redownloading the entire thing (the full version) if you like it is a little annoying.

I know there is a group of people who hate on the 2007 update to MS Office because of the looks or tool bars. That shit is superficial because it works the same damn way, and in most cases, save me a fuck ton of time. I use shortcuts most of the time, but sometimes I use the bar, and it makes things much better when you are doing massive edits to a file.
Now for a real gripe. FUCK THE SAVING SYSTEM. I FUCKING HATE IT. I have 50 mb excel files that take minutes to save. And they autosave in the middle of god damn using the program. Why can't it do the backups in the background? Why does it require the damn thing to fucking stop what I am doing just to do its business?
