Furthering the tradition of sporadic media releases, BioWare and LucasArts have released the second developer diary for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The video is packed with story details, confirmation of a Bounty Hunter class, and new footage.

Still no word as to when the PC MMO will hit, or how its business model will work.

I'm actually getting deeply concerned that this game is coming out more as an RPGwithotherplayers then an MMORPG.

I Enjoyed the first MMO Incredibly. But this one seems to be playing almost like a normal RPG, which doesn't really fit with the MMO goal here. It will be interesting to see how this comes out. I know Bioware makes great RPGs, but will that be their downfall, as they make just another RPG, rather than an MMO?

Has there been any word if this thing will have persistence kind of like EVE? Can you actually take and hold territory from other players/sides? If I am a bounty hunter and I hunt down some punk Jedi will that Jedi stay dead for a number of months (i.e account inactive)? Can I take his lightsabre, forcing the loser to work hard to create a replacement?

I guess what I am asking is this: will there be real consequences?

The early footage looks like it's coming together very nicely, looka t the scene where the bounty hunter jetpacks up and shoots down, it looks pretty cool for early footage. I still don't know if I'm sold on the cartoony atmosphere yet, but I'm curious about what will happen to the look throughout development.

One thing I never really understood about the "old republic" universe is how it's supposed to set "thousands" of years before the original trilogy yet everything looks and feels more or less the same. I'm not saying they need to be fighting with sticks and stones instead of lightsabers and blasters, but seriously. The star wars universe really hit the apex of it's technical achievements early on, huh?

One thing I do hope is that the world is as big and as beautiful as the world in the last Star Wars MMO. This is looking much better and my cynicism is wearing down from when it was initially announced. Lets hope they don't fuxor it with WoW game mechanics (never ending equipment fest).

Every smuggler will be betrayed by the same friend. So that NPC won't be in the usual place afterwards... but lower level smugglers will still see him there? Sounds really immersive.

I really hope that BioWare and LucasArts remember that the success of WoW is an exception, not the norm. Any MMO that can sustain a base of 250 - 500k subscribers at the moment needs to be regarded as success. IMO going into the million subscribers and more is wishful thinking.

Really curious on how this will play, but not I am not too much into SciFi also tired of standard fantasy (Orcs, Dwarfs, Elves etc. blah)

I love classic fantasy but I hope so bad that this game will be great. I mean not "it's alright" or "almost as good as...but..." but a real good game.
