Weekend Discussion
by Chris Faylor, Mar 14, 2009 8:55am PDTNice to see that we got some actual BioShock 2 details yesterday, especially after the early morning fake-out. Though I will admit, I'm a bit bummed that the rhinoceros and giant squid bosses turned out to be bunk. Those sounded off-the-wall awesome.
As Indiana is still pulling the old "it looks sunny and nice outside but it's really just a few degrees above freezing" trick, I think I'll end up spending most of the weekend inside. Let's see how many episodes of The Wire I can burn through, but don't worry. I'll take breaks to play Resident Evil 5, 50 Cent, and Peggle. Maybe I'll even read a book!
Splinter Cell Blacklist co-op modes partially detailed
FIFA 14 on PC won't use Ignite engine
Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to iOS next week
Far Cry 3 editor jazzed up with Blood Dragon shinies
Epic Mickey 2 for Vita coming June 18

Job A: large successful company, excellent work environment, casual (jeans and t-shirts) dress, profit sharing, stock options
Job B: public university, less money, better/cheaper health benefits, more vacation, no bonuses, free courses and higher learning
What would you pick? This isn't a self-aggrandizing post; I want some serious thoughts here.
Say there's a 10-12% difference in pay.

-6 weeks 4 days annual leave (versus the standard 4)
-sick days usable to look after family
-extra public holidays for xmas shutdown time
-15.4% vs 9% superannuation payments (think of this like a higher matching IRA)
-flex time meaning that every hour over 40 I work per week gets returned to me as flex time. Once I accrue 16 hours I'm FORCED to take a day off to burn 8.
