Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 2 to Feature Same Setup, Fresh Porn Theme
by Nick Breckon, Mar 13, 2009 4:23pm PDTThe second episode of Deadline Games' downloadable Watchmen tie-in "The End is Nigh" (XBLA, PSN, PC) will simply include more of the same beat-em-up gameplay as the first, according to the website for the ESRB ratings board.
A description on the site notes that players will once again inhabit Nite Owl and Rorschach, taking down bad-guys on another quest to fight crime.
Apparently the plot of part two involves the duo tracking down a villain "who has molested an actress appearing in a pornography film."
"The search leads players to a strip club that contains go-go dancers in cages, peep-show booths, and a pornographic film playing in the background," writes the ESRB, which dutifully notes that, "although moaning and suggestive dialogue (e.g., "Ohhh, it's so big!") can be heard echoing from the film, no nudity or sexual acts are depicted."

It's so simple, and seems like it should be a bit boring - but it looks great and I really fancied playing an oldschool beatemup again - definitely can recommend this :)

- Pricing. $20? Fuck you.
- Horizontal split screen option instead of forcing vertical split. There's next to no need for that much vertical viewing when the enemies are always coming in from the sides. Stupid, easy-to-fix problem.
- Bugs. At least in the console versions, there shouldn't be instances where rooms fail to load. Nothing like walking around in space!
- Pacing. Nothing like splitting up and finding out that only one of the two players has anything to do while the other is stuck twiddling their thumbs, waiting for the door to open. Way too many instances of it in the first episode.
- Boss fights. Need more of them and they need to be better balanced.
- Checkpoints were weaksauce in the first episode. Space them out better.
- Lockpicking. No.
