Nintendo Raises Wii Trade Price in UK
by Chris Faylor, Mar 11, 2009 12:14pm PDTCiting "the severe and continuing depreciation of the pound," Nintendo has announced that it will begin charging UK retailers 18-20 GBP more for each Wii unit purchased.
"The price that they then offer to consumers is, of course, up to the retailers," Nintendo explained, according to GamesIndusty.biz. "This is a problem brought about by extreme currency fluctuations that are a symptom of the global economic situation."
The system currently has a recommended retail price of 179.99 GBP.
Nintendo warned that upcoming Wii and DS software may also see price increases at the trade level, but does not expect increases for Nintendo DS and DSi hardware.
