F.E.A.R. 2 'Toy Soldiers' DLC Arrives Next Month

A downloadable "Toy Soldiers" multiplayer map pack for Monolith's F.E.A.R. 2 will be released in April, publisher and studio owner Warner Bros announced today.

The pack is said to "allow players to experience multiplayer from a new perspective." Players will be able to battle within a pinball machine, hospital lab, and a sandbox filled with toys. All of the maps feature large objects to make players feel relatively small.

Platforms and a price for the upcoming content were not provided, though the content briefly appeared as a free download in the Xbox Live Marketplace today. The spooky first person shooter arrived on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early February.

These were a ton of fun for css, provided that they were made by someone who knew what they were doing and had a decent sense of aesthetics. It reminds you that games are supposed to be about fun... Compared to normal maps where everyone runs around normal sized in a regular environment, the concept is also pretty creative..

BTW, I was the one who suggested these on their forums ;)

Ugh, Toy Soldier maps are so stupid.

Lets create maps where everyone is tiny and have it take place in one room, what an amazing, original idea!

I remember playing user-made maps like this for games like Quake 2 and UT2004. They weren't any fun then either, since they were typically the product of hapless n00bs who figured out how to open the map editor.

Aww, I think it's a great idea - although FEAR is probably the wrong game to introduce them. If the level design is good, I'd love to play a FPS or racing game (think Hot Wheels) in a giant environment.
