BattleForge Goes Open Beta

Paying to buy cards didn't turn me off. The missions, gameplay and clunky controls turned me off. But hey, try it and see if you like it. Also I wasn't probably in the target demographic, seemed to be aimed at younger players.

Pay to Play just turns me off, I don't care how good it is. I'd LOVE to have a great Magic type game, as there are none. But I am not buying virtual booster packs, that is totally lame.

When people say they want innovation, they don't mean "find new ways to get the publisher money".

This game is going to fail.

Very interesting game. I liked the gameplay and the graphics are cool too. Somewhere between a reshash and a irritatingly new game. The learning curve was so so, nothing ridiculous to account for nor anything ridiculously simple in there either. Buying cards might be interesting depending on how much they want to charge for them. I have wanted a good collecitble card game on PC for awhile now, and this is the first one that comes close to it.

Interesting but the pay-to-play model ruins it - plus the framework of the game may be slightly unique but the gameplay itself would need to be a whole lot more amazing than DoW 1 & 2 or CoH to be worth trying in any meaningful way.

Sorry EA, you probably have another flop on your hands. At least you (sort of) tried something different, though. ;)

Played it and the big problem was the battle system and scenarios.

For those of you like me that don't want to do PVP you see the scenarios and say "Hey lets challenge the computer 4v4!" so you line up and start a game. You win and say "Hey I beat this board why can't I play the next one?"

Not so fast there tiger. Unless you HOST, not play, in the match you won't be able to advance. So you sit there for HOURS waiting for someone, anyone to come in to your game so you can move on, pray that you'll get more people who have advanced and go from there.

This was about a month ago, the setup is unique and fun, gets a bit overwhelming with the sheer amount of forces and the AI goes from either incredibly f'n stupid to Field Marshal Rommel.


The buying cards bit doesn't entice me, not interested in that. It's like magic the gathering but an RTS. Another way for EA to get your dollars. Sorry, they got me on Spore. No more for you.

Giving beta participants an upgraded card. Mmmm mmmm.

Looks pretty interesting, first time hearing about it.

I'll give it a shot.
