Capcom Teasing New Game Announcements, Suggests Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake

13
Ever the tease, Capcom is back at it again, this time promising that there will be "new game announcements" at the Resident Evil 5 Launch Party on Thursday night.

Now, here's where things get interesting. The company recently promised Joystiq that fans of Resident Evil and the Wii "will be very happy very soon," even though Resident Evil 5--which hits Friday, March 13--"was made for the Xbox 360 and PS3."

The same fellow that made that promise, product manager Matt Dahlgren, then further teased GameFocus. He informed the site that something on March 12--the same day as the Resident Evil 5 Launch Party--would make a fan of Resident Evil: Code Veronica "very pleased," and added that it's not a PSN or XBLA remake.

Of course, that's not a guarantee that Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which brought the series' mix of zombie-killing and survival horror to the Dreamcast in 2000, is Wii-bound. But with multiple announcements and the promise of Wii happiness, it makes you think.

What's up with RE5 for PC? Everyone but Capcom keep's on saying it's coming ;-) Amazon has it listed for release some time soon...

I wonder what they're going to do about the controls. Anyway, it'd be rather nice to RE5 on PC...

Did you play RE4 on PC? Not so nice.

RE4 on PC was a disaster for controls. Very clunky aiming and low sensitivity laser xhairs. And I could never get past the part with the button mashing to get past the quick time events with a keyboard LOL. Oh well

I know Capcom is rather rubbish when it comes to PC ports, but I think they've gotten more serious about PC platform. Lot's of their games are coming to PC and they seem to be trying to port them well (I guess RE5 was developed on PC, as most Xbox and PS3 simultaneous releases are).

In the past, they never seemed to care and I wonder why did they even bothered. If you're not going to make it great, why make it at all?

Time will tell how this will turn out...

Besides, you can always plug in Xbox 360 controller and have "Xbox experience" on your PC :P

Capcom is actually good at ports, it's Ubisoft that blows. Chances are that Capcom will do RE5's port themselves. They pay more attention to their PC ports as of late, and they probably wouldn't have another developer port it like the mistake they made with RE4 (Ubisoft). Every single PC port of a Capcom game which used their latest MT Framework was done by Capcom, so I don't see why RE5 would break that trend.

I would not be surprised to see it officially announced Thursday. Capcom keeps saying "stay tuned."

Capcom's policy towards PC is idiotic. Either you do support the platform or don't.

But no! They announce nothing and then suddenly it turns out that it is coming to PC in the end (or the rumors that it is are going on forever and nothing comes out of it...). It's just plain stupid!

It's not stupid if they'd prefer people got (pre-ordered) the console versions and only want to make the PC version for people who don't/won't buy those.

Well their last handful of games that have come out with this generation of consoles has always been about 5-6 months after release, never alongside the console version of the games, IE Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4 (Which was fucking amazing when they brought it to PC). So it's still coming out, I just wouldn't expect it till the end of summer maybe. DMC4 sold better than they expected on PC, so it might encourage them to get RE 5 out a bit faster alongside Street Fighter 4, but it's most definitely a long ways off.
