by Nick Breckon, Mar 05, 2009 11:13am PSTCoinciding with the release of the big 2.0 patch and Titan Pack update for the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3, Steam plans to offer the game as a free-to-play title this weekend.
In addition to the weekend trial, Unreal Tournament 3 Black--a download including the original game and updates--has now been discounted 40% through March 15 on Steam, making the entire package a $12 buy.

The engine isn't even pretty to look at in any way. I wish we had got what the old UnrealEngine 3 videos promised, rather than UE2 with normal maps.

I installed the game the other day, just to remind myself what was so bad about it. And yea, it's crap. Absolute crap. It wasn't really playable even with the Promod (can't remember the real name). Glowing enemy models were fine but dunno why turned into annoying grey shit at close range. Pro? No.
UT2004 was a great game, though.

I guess I'll be playing this tomorrow night unless the Steam servers speed up.
