The Beatles: Rock Band Arrives on September 9
by Chris Faylor, Mar 05, 2009 7:13am PSTEnding months of silence, developer Harmonix today announced The Beatles: Rock Band will be released worldwide on September 9, 2009.
The stand-alone multi-instrument music game will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
Controllers modeled after actual Beatles instruments will be available as well, with standalone guitars selling for $99.99. A bundle that packs the game and instruments will sell for $249.99, while the game itself will be available separately for $59.99.
As previously stated, the game will be compatible with all Rock Band instruments "and other current music-based video game peripherals," such as those for Guitar Hero.
As with Harmonix's other Rock Band games, The Beatles title will allow up to four players to jam together via microphone, drum, guitar, and bass gameplay. It will pack no more than 45 songs, all culled from The Beatles' 1962-69 discography, beginning with "Please Please Me," the band's first album, and ending with "Abbey Road."
Previously, Harmonix had said that the game would arrive this year, but had not revealed any platform details, or even the game's official name. However, the studio had said that the project would not be Rock Band-branded--something that has obviously changed.

And now I think I know why they chose that date. Gee, that's a lot of 9's in that date, could it be related to one of their songs, hmmmmm?

You have to understand marketing speak. "Rock Band: The Beatles" would have been Rock Band branded. This is "The Beatles" branded. The difference is subtle, but see "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" for a counter example.

And they should also give me a free copy since it is my birthday. And a 360 since I don't have one of those either.
