THQ Eighty-sixes 86 Volition Staffers

Publisher THQ today confirmed that 86 quality assurance staffers were recently let go at Saints Row developer Volition.

Some 47 temporary employees were fired at Volition's Champaign, Illinois facility, in addition to 39 full-time staff. According to THQ, all of those affected will be given sixty days notice and employment assistance.

"[The layoffs] will not result in any layoffs within the core development teams at Volition," noted an official statement from THQ. "Volition remains a key development studio within THQ and will continue to employ 236 staff."

I can take a joke as well as the next guy (or maybe not), but the pun on words is somewhat bad taste considering the subject matter. Imagine if the Shack's new owners decided to shack-can or deep-shack the entire staff here.
