World in Conflict Console Port Canned
by Nick Breckon, Mar 04, 2009 1:28am PSTThe console port of Massive Entertainment's RTS World in Conflict, originally announced for a fall 2008 release, has now been cancelled according to word from Massive owner Ubisoft.
"A console version of World in Conflict is not planned for release at this time," said an Ubisoft rep to IGN today.
50 Cent: Blood in the Sand developer Swordfish Studios was contributing work to the World in Conflict console port. Following Activision's merger with Blizzard Entertainment, the two branches of Swordfish were sold to Monumental Games and Codemasters.
Longtime RTS developer Massive Entertainment was sold to Ubisoft last November, saving the World in Conflict: Soviet Assault project, a PC expansion now planned for release later this month.
