This is more like it. Following the light-on-gameplay official trailer, here's some actual gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars--specifically, a look at the hotwiring minigame and a subsequent vehicular rampage.

Again, Chinatown Wars is due out March 17 on Nintendo DS.

Hmmm, not too thrilled by this anymore since I got a PSP that plays "real" GTA. The best part to me of GTA was the 3d driving aspect.

However, I will still check this out...

Reminds me of the flurry of Nintendo first party DS games from a couple years ago -- Mario Kart, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and New Super Mario Bros -- which did a pretty great job of blending the best aspects of the franchises' old 2D games and brought them together with lots of successful or memorable mechanics pulled from the later 3D entries in the series. Really excited.

I really like how the camera is panned. Looks like it should be easy to see oncoming cars unlike the original GTA.

Sold. Too bad it doesn't have Wi-Fi multi-player though, that's the downside. Wireless play is just useless where I live, and even if I met someone that had a Nintendo DS and wanted to play, they probably wouldn't have the same game.
