50 Cent Options Saints Row Movie Rights

Rather than adapt his own THQ game into a film, 50 Cent is first looking to develop the publisher's Saints Row franchise into a movie.

The rapper announced that he was optioning the rights to create a Saints Row movie during a conference call earlier today.

"With my relationship with THQ, they'll actually see me develop Saint's Row into an actual screeplay and into a film project," said Mr. Cent, according to Kotaku.

"I'm optioning the rights for that right now, so they'll see that before they see me do it from my own perspective for my game," he added.

I bought the 50 Cent:Blood on the Sand game today for 360. I'm not such a fan that I would blindly buy anything, hence I didn't buy Bulletproof, but THIS game? This game is FUN. Seriously, it doesn't take itself too seriously and it's a blast to play. Sure I'll probably beat it in 2 days, but the arcadey run-n-gun action w// collectibles ALL over and hidden targets, it's good for a few playthroughs. It's like one grand mix of The Club, Gears of War 2 and... well... I guess Army of Two for all the Co-op cutscenes. It's a fun lil romp and I suggest it to anyone even remotely interested in shooters. I'm sure not many of you like 50, but you should at least rent this game.

A movie? Fiddy must be kidding. What kind of movie would they make? Some kinda urban godfather remake where the gangsters become ganstas? Was there even a plot there? I played through both and don't remember much other than grabbing territory, killing stuff and finally getting the attack chopper at the very end when you can't actually do much with it. I guess it's going to be all about getting a passable script written but this just seems like a 50 cent ego trip. Better sign up Mr Boll to direct.
