Team Fortress 2's Scout Gets Energy Drink Item, Achievements Listed and New Mode Hinted

Continuing to slowly unveil the aspects of the big Team Fortress 2 update coming next Tuesday, developer Valve has revealed the Scout's second item and achievements.

The "Bonk!" energy drink will allow Scouts to move even faster, providing "a few-second rush of radioactive energy so powerful you'll be dodgin' bullets like they ain't even there!" However, users will experience a period of slowdown after that initial burst.

The picture that accompanied the revelation also suggests a new Payload map is on the way, perhaps one with dual carts, and seemingly shows an as-yet-unnamed alternate version of the Scout's traditional Scattergun weapon that lacks a revolver.

Furthermore, the "Triple Play" achievement and its accompanying icon imply that a new gameplay mode, of the flag-based control point variety, could be in store.

As for the achievements themselves, only the icons and the names were provided. As usual, we'll have to wait for Valve to detail the conditions under which they're earned.

Christ, you might want to note that in the background the Scout is carrying his new unnamed Scattergun and there is the blurred picture of a new map, evidently a Payload map with multiple carts.

Nice catch there Wisp!, thanks a lot. Looks like it's missing the revolver, so I wonder if it's a more powerful version of the Scattergun that takes long to reload and doesn't have as many round.

Oh god, a MORE powerful scattergun? It already 2 shots most every class in the game. That would be disgusting combined with superspeed and bullet dodging.

it doesn't *reliably* two shot most things. But then, Valve's network model causes some of this nonsense, like being 'too close' and such.

The map looks like a cart race map.

I hope the carts in this dont roll back after a certain time, otherwise as soon as one team gets a bit of a lead it will be all over (thanks to spam, and having to split up your pushers and attackers, while the entire enemy team can hump the cart and spam yours)

      Could be fun, though

It would be cool if teams started in opposite bases and had to race to destroy each other's base. Starting in a similar area would be kind of lame and would probably dissolve into a giant spam war.

It's definitely a cart race, you can see the tracks and one is red and one is blue. Oh this is exciting!
