This Week on Xbox Live Arcade: Death Tank
by Chris Faylor, Feb 16, 2009 9:30am PSTSnowblind Studios and Flat Games' multiplayer shooter Death Tank will arrive in the Xbox 360's online Xbox Live Marketplace this Wednesday, Microsoft has announced.
Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), the downloadable Xbox 360 release supports up to eight players over Xbox Live, and up to four players on the same Xbox 360 console. Try to imagine Worms without the restrictions of turn-based combat--that's Death Tank.
Originally a hidden game within Lobotomy Software's PowerSlave, released for the Sega Saturn in 1996, Death Tank allowed up to seven players to rain destruction upon each other and the surrounding randomized landscape. A second version, Death Tank Zwei, was hidden within Lobotomy's 1997 Saturn release of Duke Nukem 3D.

Who seriously thinks a 50% price increase for downloadable arcade games is a good idea, especially during a recession? I don't even bother to download the trial versions of $15 arcade games anymore, since there's no way I'll pay that price. There's too many used copies of decent full game discs available at Gamestop for less than $15 to let MS shaft me with $15 XBL Arcade games.
