World of Warcraft Dual Talents Detailed
by Nick Breckon, Feb 13, 2009 12:00pm PSTBy far one of the more interesting updates coming to Blizzard's World of Warcraft, dual talent specialization has now been thoroughly outlined by Warcraft developers in an official question and answer session.
Set for inclusion in the next patch, dual talent speccing will allow players to easily switch between two separate talent specs, hotbar and glyph setups. Level 80 characters will be able to gain the ability by paying a one-time training fee.
Once trained, the talent specs can be freely switched between at any Lexicons of Power. The lexicons will be available in major cities, and inscribers will be able to create an item that summons one. A new "Gear Manager" will allow players to easily switch between sets of talent-matching items.
"We will be launching the feature with just two specs, but depending on how we feel it works out, we might consider additional specs in the future," added Warcraft senior designer Greg Street.

People still play this?!
I remember playing it for some weeks several years ago. Was quite fun for a while.

Its a boost to hybrid classes (that have had their DPS ability buffed up quite a bit) and a kick in the pants to DPS.
Everyone else gets far less utility from this change. Oh boy, mages, rogues, hunters, and locks get to pick from Raid DPS or PVP DPS....yay...
Everyone else gets to change their utility when ever they want. For example, a Pally can be a tank, DPS, or healer, so now they can easily transition to play whatever they want to get in on any run or fill any need.

I always love em when they run ahead on timed runs, die and blame the tank as it's somehow our fault they went ahead and grabbed all the agro. Or better yet DPS that are only pulling 100dps more than me as a pure tank spec loaded out with tanking gear. Yeah real good.
Here's a clue my only job besides sucking up all the damage and agro so you can get your pixel crack is to keep the healer alive.
Tanks: specialists, Healers :specialists, DPS: expendable.

"Ghostcrawler: Players will be able to visit their trainer and pay a one-time fee to be able to use it. "
This pisses me off though. We should not have to pay for something we have already put thousands of gold into already, fucking re-specing all the time. You know it will be pricey to when they say one time fee, Fuck YOU Ghostcrawler... Now I feel better thats off my chest.

Frankly, I think the idea of locking people into a class period is stupid. I know it's heresy to say that given that pretty much every MMO ever does exactly that, but I'd much rather see a progression system that allowed you to play any "class" without requiring a ridiculous amount of effort.
I've never fired up TF2 and thought, man, I really wish I could only play one class. That would be awesome.

There's one MMO out there that lets you keep the appearance of specific armor while actually wearing other armor. Joke all you want about Barbie dress-up, but some outfits that are very effective look absolutely awful, and some of the coolest looking items/weapons/armor pieces have absolutely no real value as far as stats/abilities are concerned.
Also, it would be nice if people couldn't peg your combat style by the PvP gear you're wearing. I'd like to be able to run around in a Tuxedo while blowing people up (and getting blown up) in Wintergrasp or Strand.
