Weekly PC Sales: Left 4 Dead Rises Again

Apart from some reshuffled positions--Left 4 Dead is four spots higher than it was the week before--NPD's list of the ten best-selling PC games at United States retailers didn't change all that much during the week of January 25-31, 2009.

Still no clue as to why Civilization IV suddenly reappeared in the charts, but as this is its second week up there, it obviously wasn't a one-time fluke. You folks got any ideas?

Good to see Civ 4 on the list and a better all-around variety of game genres than usual....

        On the one hand, I can agree but I find playing online with strangers utterly annoying and nowhere near as fun as should be expected. Now if you're playing online with a couple friends who also have the game, I could agree.
        
        I actually quite like the challenge presented by Single-player L4D simply because the bots won't use Molotovs or Pipe Bombs and they aren't all that great so everything can be a challenge. Try beating No Mercy's hospital-roof Finale on Advanced with just the bots and you. Come back and tell me how many tries it takes you. (Took me WAY too many, LOL)

        I agree., but unfortunately I'm the only person I know that has L4D PC. LOL! I hate people that annoyingly chatter too much and exploit the game. If you ever want to hook up for a game, my steam account name is Tony V.

  I am amazed to see Civ IV up there as well, but many people still play the game. With many people getting hours cut and what not these days a good chunk of folks may finally be picking up that great game they always wanted to play but never had time for.
  
  I myself still have addictive sessions of Civ 4 play. Its not the kind of game you can pop in for 15-30 minutes and walk away. All the Civ games have had that "One more turn" disorder, you honestly want to quit playing but want to accomplish that one last thing before you check out and go to bed. The problem is one more turn can turn into "1 hour before I need to wake up and work" pretty easily.

  Sid Meier rocks and Civ IV is getting all the love it deserves. I hope colonization did well, too because that game was worth every penny of $30 - I have probably played it 50-60 hours so far just in single player.
