Morning Discussion

by Chris Faylor, Feb 10, 2009 6:30am PST

Alright Tuesday, I'm not sure what you're all about, but let's do this thing.

And try to treat this chatty with a bit of respect? I saw what you folks did to the last one.

  • OK i just listened to the stephen fry reading of Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. My first reading/listening of the story that i've managed to get the whole way through... While i enjoyed it i really wasn't expecting the ending, or rather lack of an ending? The end was so undramatic and empty i started questioning wether my audiobook was missing a final chapter and itunes store had shafted me some how.

While i enjoyed the humour and imaginitive descriptions of the universe it felt like Part 1 of a long story that remains unfinished. And dont get me wrong, i read a lot of fairly challenging books so its not like i'm not used to a 'unsatisfying' endings, it just felt out of place and unfished in this particular book. It felt you never really got the chance to understand the characters or their motivations (however mad or illogical they may be) I guess my expectations were out of sync with what the book was really about.

    OR

is my audiobook faulty and i'm missing the ending? lets go to the restraunt at the end of the galaxy?

    *sigh*
