New Stormrise Trailer: Yes We Can (Control RTS Games on Consoles)

Change is sweeping the world, and Total War developer Creative Assembly is getting in on the ground floor. Not content with a new American president, CA is now tackling one of the more pressing issues of our times: getting RTS games to control well on consoles.

To see whether Creative is pulling it off with its "Whip Select" scheme in Stormrise, check out the following walkthrough trailer, narrated by the obligatory accented female computer voice.

Stormrise is expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2009.

Sorry, not gonna happen. RTS is for PC Gamers. Sure they can have their fancy lil Whip controls but it will never be as fast and as fluid as trackball (mouse is too slow) and keyboard with man buttons available for your min/max pleasure.

Hehehehehehehehe, it's a shame PC games don't sell well anymore, developers could be doing more interesting things than just thinking of ways to make their customers understand and control the game properly.

if you have ever played a competitive RTS game and actually played it seriously, using all the macros and working the keyboard + mouse nearly equally... you will know that a controller will always be inferior. Playable perhaps, but always inferior.
