Dawn of War 2 Screenshots: Let's Cooperate

7
A fresh batch of screenshots from Relic's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II have come out of publisher THQ, meant to show off the game's cooperative missions.

Requiring a Steam install to play, the PC action-RTS hits retailers on February 19.

While the team play in DoW2 is fun I wish Relic would remember 1vs everyone else.
I loved playing Biffys Peril vs 3 other AI, it was always chaotic and fun.

    Biffy's remake plz!

well so far we only have 1vs1 and 3vs3 maps which sucks, we need more variety. And Annihilation mode kind of sucks, seems *almost* pointless in DoW2. DoW1 had 8 different game types.

Well, technically, 2v2 can be extracted from the 3v3 maps and it actually works rather well- particularly Argus Desert Gate because of the three "channels" only two have Victory Points so while the third is valuable, two players can manage those three channels.

As far as VP vs. Annihilation, Relic pretty much indicated when CoH came out that VP mode was really the primary mode- that is only truer in DoW 2 (though I really wish they would add an option to control the # of Vic Points like they did in CoH- 500 is a tad small for some tastes, particularly given the even more unsatisfying nature of Annihilation currently). As for DoW's additional modes, quite a few of them were Take and Hold or some variant of that and Victory Point mode has basically replaced all of Take and Hold (if you think about it for a second, the Critical Points in DoW ARE the Victory Points in DoW 2 and the Relics are now unnecessary- however, it would be debatably interesting to see those make their way back into DoW 2; I say debatably because their existance could destroy the careful balance that Relic has currently as heroes like the Warp Spider Exarch and Ravener Alpha may suffer because they won't be as able to hold the Relic point(s) and even if they could such points aren't necessarily as valuable to them; still, imo, with some tuning that could be rectified by adding additional trade-offs or additional benefits to/for those heroes that are separate from the Relic). For the other modes, Relic has indicates that they want to use player metrics and feedback to shape their DLC so if you really want to see those, definitely clamor for specific modes and maybe they'll include some of those in their DLC and test them out.

Mostly there needs to be a matchmaking system that doesn't totally suck. GFWL sets back the multiplayer experience a decade at least.
