Rockstar Games Announces Red Dead Redemption
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 04, 2009 5:57am PSTA sequel to the 2004 Western action game Red Dead Revolver will be released this fall, publisher Rockstar Games announced today.
Set at the turn of the 20th century, the Wild West game, titled Red Dead Redemption, will feature an open-world environment courtesy of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine, also used by Grand Theft Auto 4.
"The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption," said Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser. "The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be," he added.
Rockstar San Diego (Red Dead Revolver, Midnight Club: Los Angeles) is handling development of the game, which will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

bring on GTA V: Neo-Tokyo!
Major No-No's would be:
When mounting a horse the breed name appears in the corner of the screen.
Copying GTA's mission structure verbatim, i.e. mission markers, cutscenes before each mission.
Horses catching fire and exploding when shot in particular section of rump.. no wait that one is just silly

and especially "c*cksuckers" (tombstone)
I always wondered how a Western game could play with a multiplayer component. It doesn't have to be with this game but if R* continues this series I'd really like to see how multiplayer would work with it

This though, this is exciting.
The GTA IV engine handles large spaces wonderfully, these screens look like real wasteland, better than what is in Fallout 3, or this is how I hoped Fallout3 would look (I guess I miss the western setting of the originals)
That and the wild west is almost akin to Star Wars in content. There is a lot that could be done with this and I cant wait to play it.
So now that they are bringing another game for RDR, how about they release some info on Max Payne 3?
Seriously. The people demand another game. Deliver it.
The Man With no Name RPG.
Make friends/enemies, use them for bounty and then have to rescue them before being hanged. Get doubcrossed over soe treasure.
Come on!
I enjoyed me some multi in that game.
