Guerilla Games' PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter Killzone 2 will at last make its way to stores on February 27, and the game is already scoring high marks in early reviews.

Tonight we bring you the opening cinematic, which sets up the story--a continuation of the original game that sees players invading the home planet of the nefarious Helghast.

Very cool cinematic however its rendered.

Minor gripes include stereotypical overly enthusiastic bro black guy and the explosions in space when those torpedoes hit could have packed more punch.

Still cool though.

Metacritic is blowing up with this game right now...

"We're surprised to see Killzone 2 blows our expectations out of the water with a memorable SP campaign and a stellar MP component. To put it short, this game makes "Gears of War 2" look like a high school attempt at gaming and that is a HUGE compliment!" 99/100

"The great graphics, the very smart AI, the mind-blowing physics and the multiplayer mode you can play for months combined make Killzone 2 a true FPS-classic." 95/100

Aww poor Xbox 360 just got it's only good game in the past year (Gears 2) completely pwned.

Co-op?

Last year, I read that co-op was planned to be patched in. Has anyone read otherwise? I've no reason to buy this on launch if co-op isn't supported right away, I'm afraid.

man the original killzone had the potential to be a halo killer, but it was released on the wrong platform.
if the 2nd one is like the same w/better online and graphics its an instant buy (as soon as i get a ps3)

replace helghast with Klendathu, and they just released the trailer for for Starship Troopers, even with the same spaceships and the same uniforms for the soldiers. Even a guy named "Rico" going off to fight. haha that had to be intentional.

I haven't played Killzone but I got a bit confused... Which side are you on in the game? The 'invaders'? Or the guys in the big suits who seemed to be killing all the soldiers from the ships you saw at the beginning?

That's a good cinematic, gotta give em credit.

I like how it brings the various senses of scale into a continuous scene. You experience 2 worlds at the very large and small.
