Old-School Graphics and JRPG Action in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard Movies

D3Publisher has sent out three gameplay videos from Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, the third person parody action game featuring fictional 80's game hero Matt Hazard.One of the movies offers JRPG dialogue and combat, while another has Wolfenstein 3D-like enemies, with various powerups, special punching moves, and slow motion mixed in.

Developed by Vicious Cycle, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 during the first half of 2009.

It's hard to take the name "Matt" as a serious badass. His name should've been "Dirk", "Lance", or even "Harry". Harry Hazard has a nice ring to it.

I love the idea of making fun of ol' school graphics and gameplay and crates n all that, but don't you think including all those things will make this one huge dose of generic? I mean tell me that gunplay when he was shooting those 2D wolfenstein guys who phased away when they died looked fun... can you? Because to me it looked awful, a man running back and forth, running over ammo, getting shot at in all directions and not dying because he's running around so ridiculously that the obviously retarded AI can't hit him or won't hit him. I'm sorry but to me it looks like trying to make fun of all these things is dooming this game to be a victim of it.

The controls looked like it was being played by a child. Then I realized it was a console-only game and being played on a gamepad.

That....actually looks really cool! D3 Publisher has definitely dropped some fun games in the past(Puzzle Quest and Earth Defense Force coming to mind), I'm definitely gonna give this a shot!
