F.E.A.R. 2 Demo Released

By Maarten Goldstein, Jan 22, 2009 5:30am PST

As had been expected, a F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin PC demo is now available and can be downloaded from FileShack. An Xbox 360 demo has been released as well, now available from the console's online marketplace, with a PS3 demo due later today.

The demo is a 1.76GB download and offers a glimpse at what you can expect from Monolith's horror action game sequel, which hits stores February 10 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

  • Awesome demo. Very intense atmosphere. The scares have been kicked up several notches. They went a bit nuts on the shader effects, with some impressive results.

Leaning has been removed but I personally don't mind all that much. The rest of the controls are all there as well as the ability to change the fire mode on your weapon (automatic/burst/single), which I don't recall being in the original game but maybe I'm just not remembering correctly. The controls feel very responsive, and the "consolitis" effect of the game being developed on multiple platforms is almost nonexistent.

My only complaint is that it seemed way too easy, even playing on the hardest difficulty, but maybe that's because it's the first level.
