World in Conflict Expansion Now Coming in March, Console Versions Apparently Still Alive

Ubisoft will publish Massive Entertainment's World in Conflict PC expansion pack Soviet Assault this March, the two companies announced today.

Existing owners will be able to purchase and download the expansion pack online, while retailers will stock a new World in Conflict: Complete Edition that includes the original strategy game, the expansion, and several unspecified "all-new features."

Originally expected last fall, Soviet Assault allows players to tackle the game from the Soviet perspective, along with new multiplayer maps, new films, and all-new characters. The expansion was delayed after former owner Sierra merged with Activision and decided to sell off the studio, with Ubisoft then acquiring Massive in early November.

Today's announcement made no mention of the previously announced PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, which 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand developer Swordfish Studios was assisting with, but did include new screenshots from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. Shacknews has contacted Ubisoft for more details.

Thank-god, I've been waiting for the expansion pack for over a year, World in Conflict was one of the best RTS in recent memory.

I also think it's one of the best RTS around in recent years. Going to install it again today.

Me too. I can't wait to play this. I was so hoping they would not fall apart after they lost their publishing deal.
