Retro Game Challenge Recreates the Golden Age

3
The premise of XSEED Games' Retro Game Challenge (DS) is simple: recreate the experience of playing games in the 1980s.

To that end, the title includes several original games in the Famicon fashion, across genres such as racing, platforming and RPGs. It seems these will essentially act as minigames, but will come with their own fully-illustrated game manuals and faux release dates to maintain the integrity of the nostalgia trip.

In fact, the whole experience of 80s gaming is simulated, with "in-game magazines that offer cheat codes as well as fake 80s news stories paying tribute to the rich history of the gaming industry." Retro Game Challenge hits the DS on February 10.

I'm not too sure about how well this game will work but it makes me happy that games have got to the point where something like this can be made.
