Best Buy Game Sales Down in December
by Nick Breckon, Jan 09, 2009 4:00pm PSTRetailer Best Buy today released its December sales data, revealing a single-digit decline in videogame sales.
"Video gaming comparable store sales declined by the mid single digits, primarily due to a shift toward software and reduced sales of large-ticket consoles," said Best Buy in a release.
Best Buy's gaming decline is in sharp contrast to videogame-specific retailer GameStop, which recently boasted a 22% increase in year-over-year holiday sales.

And before anyone talks shit, I've work for both companies several years ago, so I have a good knowledge of how they run their shit. I'm not saying that they deserve a free pass but at the same time I don't think they should get bashed when it isn't justified.

if gamestop/EB is gaining sales, that means others are probably losing them (amongst other factors).

That said, I usually play PC games and there hasn't been much out that interests me at a $50 price point. Because of that, I haven't bought anything lately. I suppose the only thing out that somewhat interests me is Left4Dead and C&C: Red Alert 3, but personally, I can't justify spending $50 on either. I'll buy one if I ever manage to catch a sale.
