Microsoft Reveals Top Xbox, 360 Games of 2008

As the trend of looking back at 2008 continues, Microsoft has provided lists of the year's 20 most popular Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade, and original Xbox games.

As noted by Xbox Live programming director Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, the original Xbox and 360 lists were calculated by the amount of online Xbox Live users playing each game, while the Xbox Live Arcade list was based off sales of the 360 downloads.

Hmm.. from the looks of it SW: Republic Commando did pretty well on the original Xbox and I think it did reasonable well on the PC too. Now the question, why is Lucas Arts so damn ignorant and doesn't bring out a sequel?

Damn I'd buy it the first second I see it. Was one of the best Star Wars games to date.

since when? everytime i wanted to play those online, I always had a VERY hard time finding anyone to play with

I did expect Gears 2 up there, but did not expect CoD:WaW on there (both games are late-year titles), and that speaks volumes about how popular the CoD series seems to be.

Surprised that with Rock Band as high as it was, RB2 was not on the list, even with the 3+ month timeframe (again, compare this to Gears2/COD above). I'm sure it will be there next year along with GHWT.

Granted, this only tracks people who play while connected to Xbox live. This is a large number, but does not include people like my brother, who doesn't have his 360 connected to the internets at all.
