Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Movie Trailer Offers Glimpse of 2009 Oscar Contender

The second live-action Street Fighter adaptation is headed to theaters next year, and while Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was shot in English, this Japanese trailer represents the first glimpse of near-finished footage.

Doom director Andrzej Bartkowiak is helming the project, with Smallville veteran Kristin Kreuk filling in the titular role. The film also stars Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Chris Klein as Charlie, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, and Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo as Vega.

serious thought here:

when a director picks up this movie after reading the script, does he/she have any say in the changes? in the long run it is in the director's hands, right? i'm not so sure how movies are developed, so i figure it's as easy as stage one two three...

i know it's hard to figure out how to incorporate a street fighter franchise into a movie. you go country to country beating up people and saying one liners after you whoop their nose into a bleeding frenzy. so at the end of making this movie, does the director feel any type of, "fuck, i really messed this one up"?

IMO the girl that played 'Lin' in the latest Mummy movie would have been perfect for the role of Chun-Li. Not to take anything away from Kristen Kruek who is a fine actress, I just think the other one fits the image of Chun-Li better.
