KOTOR 1 was a virtual masterpiece.
KOTOR 2 was horribly rushed, with fucking OBVIOUS hanging quest lines, omitting SEVERAL storylines that they obviously intended to pursue when the game was fresh, and with a terrible non-ending that wasn't only confusing, but also relatively insulting having spent all the time playing through to the end.
If that kind of bullshit happens here, this game will die a quick and much deserved death. I WANT it to be great, but folks, you gotta flesh the thing out.

I think without a real overall storyarc you can do as many quests as you like, it will usually come down to kill / fetch quests. I doubt they put as much energy in 99% of the quests as they put into the main quests in Mass Effect for example.
Another point is "living in the star wars universe" - SWG did it well at release, until the Jedi craze. Everquest / WoW type MMOs in my opinion don't, because, well, you run around, kill stuff and collect phat LEWT / get levels. That's not a simulation type thing, only Diablo improved in scale.
I guess we'll see what happens three to five months after release, probably the same as with every other MMO which tried to do "something completely new", as in WoW just a little different. (hint: WoW has a ton of content, too, Bioware)

I for one have very high hopes...and hopefully they won't get crushed.

Its not an MMO they are selling on graphics, or animation - , or whatever bs visual effects or pvp.
They are saying here is a game where they are focusing on the story, consequences, and decision making.
I think it could be a really good coop kotor, and that very well be a crappy looking but awesome to play game.
Its lack of impressiveness impresses the crap out of me.
And I have trust in bioware in general - so I am excited.
Its a long way out though.

Being so early in development, I can't expect to much anyways.
