TLDR, the Sphinx may not only be older than thought, it might have had an entirely different head to begin with that was widdled down into what we see now by a later self-important Pharaoh.

In celebration of Youtube's move towards HD-ish support, I'd like to present:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HOaCW_PiUFo&fmt=22
Also, a fairly candid interview about it and the prior game:
http://www.videogamer.com/pc/arma_2/preview-1389.html
Quoting from that:
"...in terms of difficulty...The difficulty in ArmA 1 was fairly extreme for a number of reasons, one of them being the missions that were fairly extremist, you against an army. That is not the case here. But there are a lot of improvements in terms of how the AI forces perceive the game world. They can't see through bushes, which was an imperfection in the last game. And there's the injury system, with first aid and battlefield clearance. You have a higher chance of survival thanks to your team-mates, who can save you."
It'll be interesting to see how many people who couldn't quite get into the first one will enjoy this iteration. For those of you that do, and want to get a nice MP experience out of it, ShackTac is coming up on three years of existence next month... =)

Inside I found a Homer Pez dispenser, a USB powered fan, a rubber ball with LEDs inside, a black plastic tube thing, which I have no idea is for, and some candy made in Ireland.
Also not pictured was a mini-maglite box that contained some candy (pop rocks) a pen, and a gluestick!
There was also a stack of reading material with a lot of words.
And I found the source of the smell. Incense sticks! Surprised the postal service didn't confiscate the box.
Thanks for the haul! I'm sure I'll find a good home for these stocking stuffers in my pants

The UI is a bit.... unpolished, but no moreso than the windows version of itunes :p (I'm testing on OSX fwiw), well, the UI both looks a bit cheap and certain things feel a bit slow.
but for a 1.0 product that seems to have come out of nowhere it's impressing quite a lot...
it managed to import all but two songs from my 20207 item itunes library, quite why it couldn't manage those I'm not sure... (and why it couldn't tell me WHICH two... *sigh*)
still, It's got potential, and I'm going to keep using it for a bit, which is markedly better than the reaction I have to most things I hear about from the "OMG CHECK THIS OUT IT'S SO L33T!!!" crowd, which usually wind up being horribly thought out and only-functional-if-you're-a-L33T-BASH-US4R!
So, yeah... good show Songbird, keep it the fuck up.

I was driving to work this morning and I have to go over a one-lane bridge. I start going over the bridge and I notice a jeep liberty starting to go over the bridge too. I don't really know why he figured he could squeeze past me on a one lane bridge but he tried.
So I see this and say and expletive to myself and keep going, I make it to the end of the bridge right as he starts coming on and I have to drive off the road/bridge to the side to avoid this person. I cannot believe I made it, didn't hit him or anything.
But as I look in my rear view mirror he's out of his jeep and yelling at me, or so it looked like. Why the heck would be be mad at me when I got on the bridge first? What if he hit the side of the bridge, Would I be at fault for his mistake? I don't think he hit the side of the bridge mind you, but it seems very strange he would get out of his jeep and carry on like he did when he was "in the wrong".
So I'm at work all worried that the cops are going to show up and take me away for leaving the scene of an accident I wasn't involved in. :(

Heck, even Tirerack.com only has one all-season tire in this size that costs less than $160/tire, and that only has a 30,000 mile tread life.

http://www.deltaheadtranslation.com/MGS2/DOTM_TOC.htm
Dude makes a case for MGS2 being art. Basically, he points out how Kojima used the medium to mess with player's expectations (based on MGS1's gameplay and video games in general). Raiden starts out wanting to be Solid Snake and eventually comes into his own, even shunning the player's control at some points.
Whether purposely frustrating the player to draw parallels is a good thing is up for debate. But it's a fun read.
From the conclusion:
Players still complain about Raiden, and they still complain about the quality of MGS2's script. The persistence of these gripes suggests that we lack the ability to regard games as formal rather than narrative experiences. The gripe that MGS2 is more movie than game falls through because a close look at MGS2 reveals its form as a videogame that deliberately frustrated the player through the medium's interactivity.

From the coverage I saw today, the union employees are supposed to get 60 days notice before the business closes down, but really -- if the business knew it had to pay all its employees the severance and vacation pay they're having this protest over, the business would have probably been out of business months ago.
I just don't see the sense in wasting time camping out in the business.

Finally, Munich can be mentioned in one sentence with cities like NYC, London, Beijing or Tokyo - we got our own apple retail store.
Just went there during lunch break; didnt went in; too many apple salesmen and even more "sightseers"..

Unfortunately, pretty much as I was walking into the stadium, something in my lower back started hurting. Like incredibly bad. Made stairs really tough.
On the flip side, the cold wasn't as noticeable.
